Visual Identity for a Cultural and Artisanal Initiative.
The Artesanato da Bahia Program is an initiative to promote the state’s artisanal production, carried out by the Government of the State of Bahia in partnership with the Associação Fábrica Cultural. Aiming to strengthen the work of artisans and the region’s rich cultural identity, the program also includes a physical space located at Largo do Porto da Barra, dedicated to the commercialization of handcrafted works that receive the initiative’s seal.
Our goal with the project
Translate the essence of the Bahia Handicraft Program into a contemporary visual identity that celebrates the state’s cultural richness, balancing tradition and innovation while strengthening the connection between artisans and the market.
Challenge Summary: Develop a visual language capable of representing the diversity of Bahian handicrafts without favoring specific techniques, maintaining cultural authenticity while building a brand with commercial appeal and market relevance.
Visual Identity
The choice of the baiana as the central symbol expresses the brand’s cultural essence through a figure that is instantly recognizable both locally and internationally. Its contemporary reinterpretation is revealed through a visual construction based on overlapping geometric shapes and the contrast between figure and background, creating a representation that is both symbolic and modern.
The visual system is defined by a vibrant and expressive approach, featuring lively colors, balanced compositions, and a grid that integrates geometric forms with organic lines. This combination reflects the dialogue between tradition and modernity, highlighting the handcrafted work of artisans. The simplicity of the forms enhances the brand’s versatility, allowing it to be reproduced through a variety of artisanal techniques. As a complement, the signature “Made here, with hand and with time” reinforces the brand’s human, authentic, and thoughtful character.
